First of all, I apologise for catching up with you this late, I needed to share the lessons I learnt from this movie with you and I hope you enjoy it.
The storyline is about a doctor who helps people, specifically, people who have fertility issues find themselves by waiting on God and it is perfect. The casting, the acting, everything, down to their costume is perfect. Here are the lessons I learnt and I hope it encourages you and gives you the courage to wait on the Lord.
1. God is still God: When Tosan decided to stop believing in God after 5 miscarriages, it didn't change God's essence. He still went about doing miracles. I learnt that believing in God does not shield us from life's problems. We will see shege and it doesn't take one ounce of glory from God.
2. Wait on the Lord: I don't know what it means to desperately want a child but I know what it means to wait. Waiting is hard especially when everyone around you seems to be doing well for themselves and then there is you the self-acclaimed ‘child of God' yet there are no blessings in sight. My dear friend, wait on the Lord. It is hard, I know, but it is the best option.
3. Our ways are different from God's: Akin's wife wanted to carry her child so badly that she forgot God will always shield us from our desires because he knows our desires will ruin us. He is God and what he wants will happen. Sometimes, the things we are desperately looking for are not God's plan for us; until we accept that and seek the face of God for his plan, we will continue to run in circles.
4. God's will is perfect: It might not seem like it but it is. 12 years after marriage and yet no child, how perfect is his will? 33 years in Abuja and you can't boast of any tangible achievement, is that God's will? 7 years after graduation and yet no job, is that God's will? the list goes on and on, different people with unique problems and yet it is through these problems we can only see the awesomeness of his majesty. God's will is perfect. It may not be what you want, but it is definitely what you need.
5. We all need God's nod: When Dr Nara said “without God's nod I won't enter a relationship” it reminded me of Moses telling God that if he does not go with them (the Israelites) he (Moses) is going nowhere. The funniest thing is with or without God's nod you will face problems, but the difference is with God's nod, you are sure that he will lead you through the valley of death and prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
6. Listen to God not people: People will frustrate you and sadly 'people' include our families. They may force you to marry someone you know has no business being your friend.
They may force you to study a course because they want to answer Mama Doctor or Papa Father. They will coarse you into going into fraud because as the first child you are meant to 'sacrifice'.
I have seen these scenarios play out and as someone who was once pressured, I am telling you to listen to God. He is your maker, he alone knows what he wants you to be. When you miss his words, you will lack direction and remember, speed without direction is a waste of time.
Getting married to someone he did not give his nod to and later divorcing them, guess whose time was wasted? Studying to PHD level in a course you have no business studying? Guess whose time was wasted? Starting a business without God's approval, guess whose time was wasted? Yours! Listen to God. And you might ask, “how do I hear God?” well, the good news is, we are no longer in the days of Elijah when we need a prophet to intercede for us, we now have direct access to God, thanks to Jesus Christ.
Do this:
1. Genuinely confess and surrender your life to Christ, say this out loud: Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you, I believe you died for me and you alone are the one true God, Lord I confess that I am yours, do with me as you wish.
2. Genuinely believe in this prayer.
3. Study your Bible, that is God's word, how will you hear God when you don't study his word? It is in studying the word that we know when God is speaking and when our desires are speaking.
4. Listen to men of faith who started this journey before us. Men like Apostle Joshua Selman, Dr Myles Munroe, Apostle Arome Osayi, Apostle Michael Orokpo, Prophet Tomi Arayomi, etc. These men have walked the walk, I have learnt a lot from them and I know you will learn from their experience too.
See, God loved you even before you were born, he sees you but he wants you to see him and love him too. He needs you close to him.
I don't know what you are going through but I know one thing, Our God is not a man, he does not disappoint, and he does not lie, all you need do is follow his lead. Allow him to lead you.
I wish you all the best in life and please don't forget, God is interested in you.
Interesting 🧐.... Keep up the good work ✌️
